In 1988, having worked for the previous 11 years in the United States and Germany, Jesús Prieto decided to embark on an entirely different career path. He decided to abandon the American multinational company where he had worked for the last nine years in Germany, turning his back on the benefits and lifestyle as an expatriate as well as a magnificent German wage, to focus on creating his own company.



Without realising it, Jesús had been preparing for this moment for years. After completing his Professional Certification in Mechanics in Seville and his undergraduate studies in Industrial Engineering in Madrid, he went on to graduate with an MSBA from the Metropolitan College of Boston University, at its campus based in Germany. It was there that he started to develop an interest in business and the opportunities that could be available in the Spanish market.

At that time, Spain was becoming more prosperous thanks to the arrival of European companies from across a variety of sectors including the automobile industry. That, combined with the fact that there were very few companies specialised in the area of engineering design systems, meant Jesús could fill this niche in the market by combining entrepreneurship, technology and a market opportunity.

In September 1988 he founded CADTECH and from day one the company went in a direction that set itself apart from the rest. Involvement, commitment and dedication to service helped the company grow rapidly, and it soon became a leading supplier to some of the most important industrial firms in the country.

Jesús built a team of dedicated professionals around him who shared the same values as the company, and their passion for engineering and technology ensured the growth of a solid relationship. The results of this can be seen as evidenced by the fact that Joan Font and Vicente Egea became shareholders having spent a period of time working as employees of the company.

Cadtech enjoyed sustained growth both in terms of turnover as well as geographically. New centers were established across Spain, fulfilling the company's strategy of being close to its customers to provide the best possible service. Moreover, a federal spirit was created, with knowledge of the local culture allowing services to be adapted to the needs of each client in each geographic area. Centralization of activities was drastically limited with the decision-making gravitating towards people who provided the service – that is to say, those who were in direct contact with the customer. They were the ones who made the decisions. The power was delegated and decentralized.

The company soon found more niche areas to expand into and began to explore other technology areas including data communications, systems integration and engineering. These activities were nurtured within Cadtech with the most promising ones treated as spin-off's. They were given their own management structure, income statement and finances, and were launched thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of the people within the organization.

Cadtech Engineers was born out of this, and it soon became known as CT Ingenieros, a company that became the umbrella for a variety of development activities and engineering projects. After several years working with technical offices around the country, more and more projects were coming in, and there were an increasing number of clients seeking its services. The company began to outsource engineering projects and underwent a very significant amount of growth in a very short space of time.

First came the automotive sector, one in which Cadtech had a large customer base who already knew the expertise of the company. The aviation industry followed next and experienced incredible growth. The shipping and rail sectors followed over the following years, and finally, the company diversified into the fields of oil, gas and renewable energy.


In a few short years, CT Ingenieros became Spain’s largest mechanical engineering company, with several hundred engineers working on the latest projects. CT Ingenieros consolidated its position in the market with a strong reputation among customers. The company also became known among leading universities in the country as a place where people matter and where the long-term benefits win over the short-term gains. Staff turnover ratios each year attested to that and the work environment was consistently valued by its employees. The company was named in 2003 by "Great Place to Work" as one of the best companies to work for in Spain.


In 2008, CT Engineering group was chosen by EADS Group, the European leader in aeronautics, space and defense, as its preferred engineering partner (E2S). That milestone put the company on the global map. New offices were opened in France, Germany, UK, Brazil and India, and the process of international expansion had begun. Several acquisitions of local engineering companies were made, providing them with the financial resources and project management systems to cope with the growth in new technology sectors.

It is here that we find the CT Engineering of today - developing projects on three continents, and working with industry-leading companies in the sectors of aerospace, automotive, rail, shipping, power plants and industrial plants. Treasuring the fruits of technological knowledge gained have allowed CT to take part in overcoming the major industrial challenges of recent years.
